Change!

Change is so important, especially in retail! You have to change stock around, often! You have to change vendors, if their merchandise isn't selling! You must change with the times!

Right now, all I have in the way of retail space are some leased areas, probably a 20x20 space if you added them together! Small! But I change them out, often. It makes such a difference on the bottom line. This table is in the middle of one space, I recently changed it to look like a spring tea party as this booth is all about tea and its accouterments.

"Creation Station"

I love to create things for my business, Antiques & Uniques. One of my favorite areas to relax in and look for inspiration is the bookcase in my studio. It is filled with decorating books, trash to treasure books, etc. I can sit there and flip through books I have looked at time and time again and see something new to create each time . Love it!!

She's a "real jewel" !!

Jewelry mannequin, that is! Can you see the teacup detail for the pocket on this darling apron that Jewel( the jewelry mannequin) is modeling? I just love the apron and the matching tea cozy we have to offer in our tea booth right now. This is the first new apron that I've tried selling in my booth. This apron is put out by The Victorian Trading Company. They make some lovely things. I've sold quite a few 1950's type aprons, they look cute on Jewel, as well.

Shop Stuff

My business is varied in that I have several booths I sell from and I also repurpose flea market finds in another shop. Today I want to share some pics from the booths.
This is a booth that sells my hand painted glassware as well as vintage barware. Didn't the LOVE display turn out cute?

This next space carries all kinds of bath and body products, from the Sweet Grass line of products to colorful sponges to dried lavender by the scoop!I love being in a group shop where I pay a shopkeeper to be there and not have to mind the store myself, done that already, too confining for me!

My bigggest booth is all about TEA! I even made a tea wreath! We carry 4 different brands of tea that sell by the teabag: Ashbys, Admad, London and Stash. We also sell teacups/pots and tea accessories.

Here's the tablescape for Spring!! We're carrying lots of new tea items and accessories.

Business Blog

I created this new blog to showcase my small business"Antiques & Uniques" located in Chickamauga, GA. Antiques & Uniques has been around since 2000, in different formats, it has always been a business selling second hand furniture, small mid range antiques and other treasures we collect. Now the business has several facets, it still is a business selling second hand furniture, usually something that has been rehabbed and painted from an estate sale or flea market.
But it is also the business that handles three booths in a group shop called
The Galleries on
Gordon in Chickamauga, Georgia. Those booths are all very different, they consist of one that is all things tea. I carry vintage tea cups/teapots, 4 different brnads of tea, tea accessories, tea cards, fancy tea spoons, teapot cookie cutters, several types of honey to use in your tea. Just about anything you can think of for a tea party or just a spot of tea in the afternoon!

The second booth is bath and body stuff. I carry Sweet Grass Farm linen sprays, soy candles, lotions etc.We have lots of cute sponges, scrubbies, brushes, sisal washcloths. Lots of bath and shower fizzies, bath salts, bath syrups. These are pictures of that booth in December 2006

My last booth is a recent endeavor, I have lots of vintage barware from the 1950's and 1960's.To complement those, I hand paint wine glasses, martini glasses, tea glasses and champagne/juice flutes.
